Sleepy Dream is JWC Roastery’s specialty decaf coffee, created for people who still want a satisfying cup of coffee without the usual caffeine intensity.

Processed in Colombia using the Sugarcane EA decaffeination method, it preserves more of the coffee’s natural sweetness, aroma and body than many conventional decaf coffees.

Expect a smooth and comforting cup with red apple, orange, caramel, chocolate and a nutty finish, suitable for espresso, milk coffee and filter brewing.

A Proper Coffee, Not Just a Decaf Alternative

Many people expect decaf coffee to taste thin, flat or overly processed. Sleepy Dream was selected to offer a more complete specialty coffee experience, with enough sweetness, body and flavour to remain satisfying whether served black or with milk.

The goal is not simply to remove caffeine. The goal is to keep the coffee enjoyable.

Why Is It Called Sleepy Dream?

Sleepy Dream was created for coffee drinkers who want to enjoy the ritual and flavour of coffee later in the day, with less caffeine than regular coffee.

It is suitable for afternoon coffee, after-dinner drinks and customers who are more sensitive to caffeine.

Decaf coffee is not completely caffeine-free, so individual sensitivity may still vary.

What Is Sugarcane EA Decaf?

Sugarcane EA is a decaffeination process commonly used in Colombia. The coffee is first processed using the washed method, then caffeine is removed using ethyl acetate derived from sugarcane fermentation.

This process is valued because it can preserve more sweetness, aroma and body compared with many conventional decaffeination methods. The result is a cleaner and more flavourful decaf coffee, without added flavouring.

What You’ll Experience

  • Flavour notes: Red apple, orange, caramel, chocolate and nutty finish
  • Perceived acidity: Low to medium
  • Body: Medium
  • Sweetness: Medium
  • Cup character: Smooth, comforting and balanced
  • Processing: Washed + Sugarcane EA decaffeination
  • Best with: Espresso, long black, latte, flat white, filter coffee and iced coffee

Black or With Milk?

As black coffee: Expect red apple, orange, caramel and a cleaner chocolate finish.

With milk: Milk brings forward more caramel, chocolate and nutty sweetness, creating a rounder and more comforting cup.

Best For

  • Coffee drinkers reducing caffeine
  • Customers who are sensitive to caffeine
  • Afternoon or evening coffee
  • After-dinner coffee
  • Espresso and milk coffee drinkers
  • Cafés that want a proper decaf option
  • Customers who dislike thin or flat decaf coffee

Who Should Not Buy This

Sleepy Dream may not be the best choice if you want the full stimulating effect of regular coffee, extremely bright acidity, intense anaerobic fermentation or a very dark and bitter roast.

If you are highly sensitive to caffeine, please note that decaf coffee may still contain a small amount of caffeine.

Recommended Espresso Style

  • Coffee in: 18g
  • Espresso out: 34g–38g
  • Time: 27–32 seconds

For milk coffee, use a slightly shorter yield to emphasise caramel, chocolate and body. For black coffee, use a slightly longer yield to reveal more orange and red apple character.

Why Choose Sleepy Dream?

  • Clear decaf identity
  • Sugarcane EA process
  • Suitable for both black and milk coffee
  • More body and sweetness than many conventional decaf coffees
  • Easy to enjoy regularly
  • Suitable for home users and cafés

FAQ

Is Sleepy Dream completely caffeine-free?

No. Decaf coffee still contains a small amount of caffeine, although significantly less than regular coffee.

Will this coffee help me sleep?

Sleepy Dream contains less caffeine than regular coffee, but individual caffeine sensitivity varies. It should not be treated as a sleep product.

Does it taste like normal coffee?

Yes. It is selected and roasted to retain sweetness, body and flavour, with red apple, orange, caramel, chocolate and nutty notes.

Is Sugarcane EA decaf safe?

Sugarcane EA is a commonly used decaffeination method. Ethyl acetate is used to remove caffeine and is removed during processing and roasting.

Is this flavoured coffee?

No. There is no added apple, orange, caramel, chocolate or nut flavouring. These are natural tasting notes from the coffee and roast profile.

Can I use it for espresso or latte?

Yes. It is suitable for espresso, long black and milk-based drinks. Milk highlights more caramel, chocolate and nutty sweetness.

Is it suitable for filter coffee?

Yes. Filter brewing brings out more red apple, orange and caramel clarity.

Why is decaf coffee more expensive?

Decaf coffee requires an additional processing stage to remove caffeine, which increases green coffee cost and handling complexity.
