Merdeka Blend is JWC Roastery's annual seasonal coffee, created to celebrate the spirit, diversity and unity of Malaysia through coffee.

This limited 2026 edition brings together carefully selected coffees from Thailand, Costa Rica and Colombia, creating a cup that is vibrant, expressive and beautifully balanced.

With elegant floral aromatics, nostalgic sweetness and bright citrus notes, Merdeka Blend reflects the warmth and richness of Malaysia in every cup.

Once this edition is retired after Malaysia Day, it will not be reproduced in the same recipe.

Inspired by Malaysia

Every flavour in Merdeka Blend was chosen with purpose.

The blend naturally expresses elegant floral aromatics, inspired by Bunga Raya (Hibiscus), Malaysia's national flower and a symbol of unity, courage and celebration.

Its gentle sweetness is inspired by Sirap Bandung, one of Malaysia's most beloved nostalgic drinks. Rather than recreating the drink itself, Merdeka Blend celebrates the familiar memories, warmth and joy that Sirap Bandung represents.

Together, these flavours tell a uniquely Malaysian story through specialty coffee.

Coffee Origins

Thailand Chiang Rai — Double Anaerobic Honey Process

Brings vibrant tropical fruit, rich sweetness and a syrupy body.

Costa Rica Mirazu Catajo — Raisin Honey Process

Adds elegant florals, caramel sweetness and refined acidity.

Colombia Huila Pitalito — Washed Process

Provides clarity, citrus brightness and a clean, balanced finish.

Together, these three coffees create a harmonious cup that celebrates diversity, just like Malaysia itself.

So, how do you know what grind to use?

Here’s a handy guide. Save it to your phone, share it with all your friends. You’ll never need another guide!

  1. Coarse:
    • Coarse grinds are chunky pieces of coffee beans, similar to coarse sea salt
  2. Medium-Coarse:
    • Saddling between coarse and medium, this grind looks like rough sand
  3. Medium:
    • The middle of all grind sizes, medium grounds are similar to the consistency of sand
  4. Medium-Fine:
    • The medium-fine grind is a staple grind size, with texture like table salt
  5. Fine:
    • Finer than table salt, fine grind is typically the size of most pre-ground coffee
