About This Coffee :
Finca El Pilon is owned by the Ureña family and is the first government-approved Natural processing plant in Costa Rica. While honey-processed coffee beans are common in Costa Rica, it’s extremely rare to find beans processed using the natural method.
This batch is sourced from the classic Tarrazu region, with the beans being uniform, dense, and covered with the dark brown husk characteristic of black honey processing. Even in appearance, the rich characteristics and aroma of honey processing are evident. In the cup, the flavor is sweet and smooth, with a full-bodied sensation of sweetness sliding across the palate, highlighting the distinctive traits of black honey processing, along with the bright and clean texture typical of Costa Rican coffee—truly enjoyable.
After black honey processing, the beans exhibit ample sweetness and a lively citrus flavor, along with aromas reminiscent of black grapes and a sweet melon-like sensation, all contributing to a smooth mouthfeel, with a pronounced coffee blossom aroma lingering in the finish. The flavor profile is characterized by clarity, balance, complexity, and a gentle citrusy note, complemented by hints of toast and cocoa sweetness, as well as a sweet melon-like sensation, ending with a delightful aftertaste.
